About College
GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR), Visakhapatnam was established in 2015 under the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management(GITAM) and is the first deemed private medical college in Andhra Pradesh.
It offers MBBS (150 seats annually) and postgraduate MD/MS medical programs in various specialities. It is a constituent college of GITAM (deemed to be university) and is recognised by the National Medical Commission and approved by the UGC-MHRD.
The college is spread over 29.9 acres and has access to the larger University campus. There is an attached teaching hospital, modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, residential accommodation for students and support services.
100% of the seats are available for candidates from all over the country as there are no state quota seats.

Admission Process 2026, GIMSR Visakhapatnam
Admission is entirely based on merit - passing the NEET-UG 2026 exam.
Steps:
- Qualify NEET-UG 2026 conducted by NTA.
- Register for counselling depending on rank and category, through Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the DGHS New Delhi
- Counselling rounds are Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up.
- In choice filling and locking, select “deemed universities” and GIMSR Visakhapatnam, as preference
- Seats are allotted on the basis of rank, category, choices and availability
- Once your seat is allocated, download the MCC allotment letter and report personally to the college for document verification, medical checkup and payment of fees.
Any vacant seats are filled through stray vacancy rounds.
