About University
Established in 1956, Xinjiang Medical University (XMU) accommodates 13k UG & more than 2k PG students along with 1.5k staff members. XMU is located in Urumpi which is the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the P.R.China. XMU has as many as 8 medical and allied colleges in its aegis. Incidentally, all the hospitals in the entire region are affiliated to XMU. Among the 1.5k staff members mentioned above, more than 1k are Professors and Assistant Professors apart from the 400 supervisory positions kept for doctorate and masters students.

About Campus life
The campuses at XMU are made remarkable by the unique infrastructure. But let that fact not lure you into assuming anything related to the facilities on-campus is outdated. On the contrary, the library, cafeterias, training facilities and hospitals are all highly modernized. A new campus has come into existence in 2020 that covers 127 hectares and is spacious enough to accommodate 24k individuals. The library boasts of as many as 1.07 million books and has the capacity to seat 2.5k persons at any given time.

Xinjiang University offers well-furnished living spaces available within the campus premises. There are rooms which can be availed on solo basis as well as sharing basis, the solo option apparently being on the pricier side. There is a card which allows entry inside the room so every student is provided with one such card. The hostel rooms at Xinjiang University are very spacious and some of the space is occupied by bed, study tables, wardrobes, etc. which of course the university provides. Besides these essentials, you can bring your own refrigerator, air purifier, water purifier, etc.
On each floor of the hostel building along with rooms are laundry and kitchen. The laundry consists of washing machines, steamers for removing wrinkle from your clothes, etc. To avail these laundry services, you must pay for it through scanning the QR code from your phone or through the card provided by University. Speaking of the card, you must recharge it as per your requirements since not just laundry but this card can be used at a number of places such as traveling from subway, paying electricity bills, buying meals from canteen. Now that we’ve come to talk about canteen, there is an array of Indian food you’ll be finding inside the canteen of Xinjiang University, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
