About College

In Ambajogai, the SRTR Medical College is commonly known as Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Government Medical College, established in 1975 with the mission to provide quality medical education and healthcare in rural Maharashtra. It is also one of the first government-run rural medical colleges in Asia to serve a large population in the region.

It is affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC),  as a college that delivers comprehensive medical training along with emphasis on practical experience in its government hospital.

MBBS Programme Overview (Undergraduate)

  • Degree given: Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
  • Course duration: 5.5 years (4.5 years academic + 1 year compulsory rotating internship).
  • Seats available: 150 MBBS seats per year (State & All-India quotas via NEET counselling).
  • Admission Test: NEET-UG conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) followed by State & AIQ counselling.

The course content is spread over the years for preclinical and paraclinical and the last 3 years for clinical training. The training covers various departments such as medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, orthopedics, etc. Besides theoretical teachings, students are given the advantage of presenting.

Postgraduate (MD/MS & Diploma) Courses

The college also offers postgraduate medical degrees (MD/MS) and medical diplomas in several specialisations such as pharmacology, general medicine, paediatrics, anaesthesia, obstetrics & gynaecology, and various surgical subjects. Admission is based on NEET-PG exam followed by subsequent All India/State counselling.
