About College

Situated just outside of Kolar, Karnataka, on Tamaka Road, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College (SDUMC) is a notable and highly regarded deemed university-level medical organisation. SDUMC was founded in 1986 by the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust and operates as an educational programme through the Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research (a deemed university). Like all Degree Granting Institutions, SDUMC is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and offers 150 MBBS seats annually, making SDUMC among the most academically respected and clinically prepared undergraduate medical programmes available in India. The primary focus of this institution is not only on producing doctors but also providing quality health care services to rural communities through the teaching hospital associated with the college i.e R L Jalappa Hospital.

Under the direction of its founder, Dr R L Jalappa, the college has developed into an exceptional institution for training and educating medical professionals over time. The Medical Council of India (MCI) first recognised SDUMC in 1992, and in 2007 SDUMC obtained its deemed university status. The college currently offers postgraduate training programs in over 19 medical specialties and has more than 800 beds at the affiliated R L Jalappa Hospital & Research Centre providing services to patients in the Kolar district and adjacent districts. Thus, the students receive both early and adequate exposure to clinical practice, which is enhanced by the institution’s NAAC accreditation, ISO certification, and emphasis on research with national and international recognition.

Admission Process 2026, SDUMC

  1. Candidates must qualify for NEET UG 2026 (expected release date is in May). 
  2. All candidates must either register with the Sri Devaraj Urs Academy or go through the NCME (National Council of Medical Education ) counseling process for deemed universities. 
  3. Upon receiving their NEET results in July, the candidate must then go online and participate in institutional counseling for seat allotments. 
  4. The candidate's NEET rank is the basis for seat assignment along with a merit ranking system. 
  5. Should the student accept their Seat Assignment, the student must pay the appropriate fee and obtain/download their Seat Assignment Letter. 
  6. Once the student has completed all necessary forms/documents for admission verification, the candidate must report to the school where their documents will be verified before their admission is confirmed. 
  7. Should there be any available vacancies after the first allotment is completed, there will be additional mop-up seat allotments available.

  • Minimum Age Requirement- On or before December 31, 2026 should be 17 Years. 
  • Must Qualify- NEET UG. 
  • Must have done 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English. 
  • PCB Minimum Marks Requirement: General 50%, SC/ST/OBC: 40%, PwD: 45%. 
  • Must be an Indian National, NRI or OCI. 
  • There is no Domicile Requirement for Deemed University Seats.
