About College

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences formally known as Government Medical College, Srikakulaum and commonly referred to as RIMS Srikakulam, is a renowned Government medical institution in the city of Srikakulu in Andhra Pradesh.

It was established in 2008 to cater to the healthcare needs of the people of the Uttarandhra region of Andhra Pradesh, by way of medical education and services.

It is affiliated with the Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and is approved by the National Medical Commission. It offers 200 MBBS seats annually as well as postgraduate (MD/MS) and Nursing medical programs.

The campus is spread over 35.97 acres and has an attached teaching hospital - Government General Hospital (GGH) Srikakulam, (800+ beds) that imparts practical training to the students. There are modern lecture halls, advanced laboratories, residential accommodation for the students and support services.

Admission Process 2026, RIMS Srikakulam

MBBS admission is based strictly on merit - NEET-UG 2026 score.

Steps of the Process:

  1. Qualify NEET-UG 2026 exam conducted by NTA.
  2. Followed by online registration for counselling through the website of Dr.YSRUHS for 85% state quota and through MCC for 15% All India Quota.
  3. Fill the application and upload the required documents for online verification.
  4. After verification, wait for the merit list to be published.
  5. Take part in the choice filling and locking, select RIMS, Srikakulam(GMC Srikakulam) as preferred college.
  6. There are various counselling rounds (Phase 1, Phase 2, Mop-up and Stray vacancy) for seat allotment based on rank, category, choices and availability.
  7. Once seat is allocated, pay the University fees and download the provisional allotment letter.
  8. Report personally to the college for verification, medical fitness checkup and payment of remaining tuition fees, within the given time limit.

The entire process should be done within the given time limit, otherwise the allotted seat may get cancelled.

  2. There is no upper age limit as of now.
  3. Qualification: Passed Class 12 (10+2) or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology (PCB) and English from a recognised education board with -

    • General: 50% in PCB
    • OBC/SC/ST: 40% in PCB
    • PwD: 45% in PCB
  5. Must qualify NEET UG 2026 with the minimum required percentile -
    • General/EWS: 50th percentile

    • General PwD: 45th percentile
  6. Nationality : Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs and PIOs.
  7. AP Domicile candidates are preferred for state quota seats.
