About College

Established in 1924, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) is one of Karnataka’s oldest and most respected government medical colleges.

The campus is located in the heritage city of Mysuru and provides a blend of rich academic legacy with modern medical education and clinical training. It has a 1200 bed teaching hospital - KR Hospital, which is a multispeciality hospital and tertiary care centre providing the practical experience to the students in all clinical disciplines.

The college is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru, and is approved and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Since its inception, spanning decades, it has made a name for making competent doctors and healthcare professionals who are actively serving in India and abroad.

The college offers 150 MBBS seats annually and with its experienced faculty members, research opportunities (including ICMR projects), and a structured academic environment, MMCRI is constantly ranked among the top government medical colleges in the state of Karnataka.

MBBS Fee Structure 2026, Mysore Medical College and Research Institution

For the 2026 academic year, the government quota tuition fee for MBBS is expected to be approximately Rs.64,350 per year, bringing the total tuition cost to around Rs.3.2 lakhs to Rs.3.5 lakhs for the entire 4.5-year course (excluding internship). The fees are payable annually as per Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) guidelines.

  • Hostel Fees: Appro. Rs.10,000 to Rs.20,000 per year(without mess charges)

The fees are very subsidized as MMCRI is a Government institution. It offers scholarships for candidates of the SC/ST/OBC and other eligible categories under State and Central schemes.

Admission Process 2026, Mysore Medical College and Research Institution

The admission process is based on merit and NEET-UG 2026 scores.

  • Candidates have to appear and qualify NEET-UG 2026 (usually held in May) with a valid score.
  • Candidates have to register on the website of KEA for Karnataka NEET-UG counselling.
  • Candidates have to take part in choice filling and select MMCRI as preference and also go through the counselling rounds - Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Extended Mop-up or Stray Vacancy Round.
  • Seat allotment is based on NEET-UG 2026 rank, category, preference and seat availability.
  • After allotment, candidates must pay the prescribed fees, download the allotment letter and report to the college within the given deadline to complete the formalities of document verification, medical fitness and confirmation of admission.

If any candidate does not report on time, it may result in their seat getting cancelled.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for MBBS at MMCRI in 2026, candidates must :

  • Have passed Class 12 / PUC (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) from a recognised education board (CBSE/ICSE/State Board) scoring at least 50% aggregate in PCB for general category and 40% for reserved categories.
  • Be at least 17 years old on or before 31 December 2026.
  • Must qualify NEET-UG 2026 with valid score - 50th percentile for General category and 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC.
  • Karnataka domicile candidates can apply for 85% state quota seats and the remaining 15% seats come under the All India Quota (AIQ).
