About College

Maulana Azad Medical College (also known as MAMC) is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg (near Delhi Gate) in the heart of New Delhi, India. Established in 1958, MAMC is one of the top-rated government medical schools in India, is affiliated with the University of Delhi, and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

The college was named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India's first Minister of Education and has a total campus size of 122 acres. MAMC also has an excellent reputation due to a focus on academic excellence and extensive clinical exposure for its students.

MAMC has MBBS degree programs (180 seats available), postgraduate MD/MS degree programs, and super-specialty programs available. All students will get practical training at a number of large affiliated hospitals, including Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, and Guru Nanak Eye Hospital. The first class of MBBS students graduated in 1962; therefore, MAMC has a long tradition of producing quality health care professionals.

Admission Process 2026, MAMC New Delhi

The admissions in MBBS at MAMC will only be based on NEET UG.

  1. Candidates register to attend the NEET examination organised by the National Testing Agency.
  2. After the NEET exam candidates can register with the Medical Counselling Committee for Counselling Process.
  3. Allotment for MAMC will only be available through counselling with candidates who have selected MAMC during preference entry as (AIQ and Delhi) as first choice.
  4. In order to allocate the seats at MAMC, allotment of seats will be made by their categories, ranks and preferences.
  5. Allotment letters can be downloaded and candidates will pay fees before going to college.
  6. Candidates will report to MAMC to complete the admission process with their allotment letter and confirm the seat allocated after fees are paid and the documents verified.

Additional rounds (mop-up or stray vacancy) may occur if seats remain unfilled.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for MBBS in 2026 will be as follows:

  • Age should be at least 17 years old as of 31 December 2026
  • Must appear for and pass the NEET UG examination. The general merit cutoff is 50% for general and the reserved category cutoff is 40% in the qualifying examination.
  • Must have completed 10+2 or the equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subjects.
  • Must have achieved 50% in the PCB subjects for general category and 40% for candidates from the Reserved Category.
  • Candidates from India, Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and other eligible foreigners can apply.

However, candidates who are applying for State Quota seats must have Delhi Domicile.
