About College

The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangalore was established in 1980 and is a Private Medical University in Banashankari II Stage, Bangalore, Karnataka, and is part of the Government of India’s (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) Universal Health Coverage initiative. KIMS is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and is approved by the National Medical Commission.

The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore is situated on a centrally located 14-acre campus. KIMS offers 150 MBBS seats and many subspecialties (i.e. MDS, MD, MS, DNB) for graduate students. The KIMS has a Multi-Specialty Teaching Hospital with 1070 beds (this provides the opportunity for students to gain practical experience). The KIMS has many faculty members who have experience, modern facilities and a strong academic emphasis; research capabilities and community service. Thus, the KIMS prepares the students for their future medical careers in India and overseas.

Admission Process 2026, KIMS Bangalore

  • Candidates must qualify in NEET UG 2026 with the required percentile in order to apply.  
  • Karnataka candidates should apply through KEA for admission to state quota seats. For all other candidates, they must apply through MCC for admission to seats in the All India, Management, or NRI categories.  
  • Once the NEET results are released (expected to take place between May and June 2026), the first round of counselling will begin (Round 1), followed by Round 2, mop-up and stray vacancies.  
  • After they receive their NEET seat allotment, candidates will need to fill in their college options and check their mock allotments before confirming their seat allotment.  
  • Once the initial fees have been paid online, they will also need to report to the college to complete document verification, medical fitness checks and final fee payment within the specified time frame.

Candidates who are either Indian Nationals, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) will be eligible to apply. If they are domiciled in Karnataka and they can qualify for state quota admissions.
