Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Manipal is amongst the first private medical institutions that were founded in India in 1953 and is recognized as one of the leading and premier medical colleges in India. It is founded within the framework of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and is located in the beautiful University town of Manipal in Udupi District of Karnataka State. KMC has obtained many national and international diplomas and is approved by National Medical Commission (NMC) as well as WHO and GMC (UK).

KMC has received a very high level of global recognition for its academic and clinical training programs and ranks as one of the leading medical colleges in India as shown by the NIRF Medical college rankings of 2026 wherein KMC is ranked 2nd in the medical college category. KMC has 250 MBBS seats available annually, along with a full range of postgraduate and super-specialty programs. KMC has a large 600-acre campus that provides a wonderful blend of academics and hands-on experience by being attached to the large Kasturba Hospital with over 2,000 beds.

Fee Structure 2026, Kasturba Medical College

  • Total cost for the entire course is approximately Rs.70.9 Lakhs.
  • However, the first-year fees are around Rs.17.8 Lakh.
  • This includes approximately:
    1. Rs.6.71 lakhs in additional fees.
    2. Rs. 10,000 as a refundable caution deposit.
  • Tuition for each successive year will be approximately Rs.16.5 Lakhs plus an additional Rs.4 to 5 lakhs (Library/Development) per year.

NRI Quota

  • The annual fee will be approximately USD 37,000-49,000.
  • Estimated total cost would be around USD 148,000 (approximately Rs.31- 41 lakhs) per year.

Hostel & Other Expenses

  • The cost of staying in the hostel would range approximately between Rs.70,000 - Rs.2,00,000 annually depending on the type of room shared or whether there is AC or not.
  • Prices for food are usually between Rs.60,000 and Rs.80,000 per annum.
  • Examination fees will be approximately Rs.8,000 per year.
  • Laboratory fees will be approximately Rs.20,000 per year.
  • Other costs e.g. ID, Gym etc. will be approximately Rs.10,000 plus taxes.

Admission Process 2026, Kasturba Medical College

  • Students are required to first qualify in NEET UG 2026 (as required by MAHE). 
  • They then apply to register on the MCC website for Deemed University Counselling. 
  • In the online choice filling, they fill out their choice of medical colleges with KMC Manipal being their first choice. 
  • There will be a number of counselling rounds for students, that is; Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up and Stray Vacancy. After allotment, the student then needs to pay the required fees (approximately Rs.2 Lakhs) for the first-time seat. 
  • Next, the student then downloads his allotment letter from the MCC website. 
  • Finally he must appear at KMC Manipal to submit the required documents within a set time (usually about 7 to 10 days) from his allotment. 
  • In addition, the student must provide proof of medical fitness and pay any remaining fees in full within the same time to confirm his acceptance into KMC Manipal. 

Failure to abide by the above timelines will result in the cancellation of his allotted spot in the college/university.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Age 17 as of December 31, 2026. 
  2. Pass NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate) in 2026. 
    • General / EWS must score at least the 50th percentile.
    • SC / ST / OBC must score at least the 40th percentile.
  3. Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English.
  4. PCB minimum Aggregate of 50% for general and 40% for SC, ST, OBC.
  5. Students eligible to apply: Indian citizens, NRI, OCI & PIO.

No state quota - all admissions are done through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).
