About College

Established in 2012, KIMS is a government-run medical college located in Karwar, a coastal town in the state of Karnataka within the district of Uttara Kannada. KIMS has quickly established itself as one of the premier providers of medical education in the region.

Admission Process 2026, KIMS Karwar

KIMS will conduct MBBS Program admission via NEET UG results only and use a counselling system for all admissions

The Admissions Process Will Generally Conform To The Following Steps-

  1. Candidates must successfully write and qualify NEET UG (get at least 50 percentile overall for general category).
  2. Candidates must register or enroll themselves with the following Counselling bodies:
    • Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for 15% All India Quota
    • Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for 85% State quota (Karnataka candidates)
  3. Candidates need to complete and lock in their preferred college choices for each round; including KIMS Karwar; and submit to above mentioned bodies.
  4. Participation in mock allotment via counselling rounds 1,2 and mop up rounds are required.
  5. Allocation of seats per admission cycle will occur on NEET UG overall ranking of candidate, reservation policies, and preference choices made by candidate at time of applying.
  6. Once a seat has been allocated, the candidate must download the allocation letter from the relevant head office portal/website, pay the required fee online as advised, and attend the institution within the allotted date with all original documents relative to seat allocation.
  7. Failure of candidate to attend KIMS within given time frame forfeits right to the seat allocated. Remaining vacant seats will only be filled as described above through second chance for stray vacancy rounds.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission into a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program at the Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 17 years of age by 31st December 2026.
  • Have passed the NEET-UG 2026 Examination with the required percentile: General - 50th Percentile; Reserved Category (SC, ST, OBC)-40th Percentile.
  • Have passed the 12th Class Examination (Equivalent): including Physics and Chemistry, Biology (or Biotechnology) and English.
  • Have received an overall mark of at least 50% in each of the above subjects for General and 40% in Reserved Categories (SC, ST, OBC).
  • Be an Indian citizen/NRI/OCI/PIO.
  • If applying for state quota seats, you must hold Karnataka domicile.
  • Provide a Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of admission.
