About College
Gulbarga Institute for Medical Sciences (GIMS) is a Karnataka-based government-run medical school located in Kalaburagi (formerly Gulbarga). It was founded in 2015 and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The National Medical Commission has recognized the Gulbarga Institute for Medical Sciences as an officially-accredited educational institution.
GIMS is currently admitting approximately 150 MBBS students per year and has its own large teaching hospital with about 750+ beds available for patients. The Gulbarga Institute for Medical Sciences serves primarily rural and semi-urban areas, giving its students direct, hands-on experience with patients in Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and other fields from the first day of school. Admission Process 2026, GIMS Gulbarga
In order to be accepted into Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences, students must be accepted based only on their merit. All students must complete the following:
- Take NEET UG which is conducted by the National Testing Agency.
- Register for state counseling to GIMS by way of the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority).
- Fill out their choices and take part in a mock allotment.
- Students receive their seats based on their NEET rank, category, and choices.
- Download the allotment letter and report to GIMS with it for document verification and fee payment.
- Medical fitness must be completed before being admitted into the program.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following criteria to apply to GIMS for admission to the MBBS program:
- Be at least 17 years of age by 31 December 2026.
- Be accepted into the MBBS course at GIMS by passing NEET UG.
Minimum score requirements for the NEET exam are:
- General- 50%
- Reserved categories- 40%
- Have obtained a passing mark for Class 12 with (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English).
- A minimum aggregate of 50% must be obtained from the PCB subjects for candidates applying in the general category and a minimum aggregate of 40% must be obtained from the PCB subjects for the candidates applying based on the reserved category.
All candidates who are domiciled in the state of Karnataka have preferential treatment with respect to the state quota and the AIQ category.
