Government Medical College, Akola, is a famous government-run medical institution in Maharashtra that was established in 2002, and the formal inauguration took place in 2003. It provides healthcare services to the residents of Akola and the adjoining districts of Amravati, Buldhana and Washim.

It has an attached training hospital with more than 750 beds, experienced faculty, modern clinical facilities and is ranked at no.25 in Maharashtra by NIRF 2025.

The college is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). All degrees awarded by the institute are valid and recognised throughout India.

Admission Process 2026, GMC Akola

The admission process is on merit and NEET-UG 2026 scores.

  1. Candidates have to appear for NEET-UG 2026 and get the qualifying percentile.
  2. Candidates have to register for Maharashtra State counselling carried out by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research Maharashtra (DMER).
  3. Candidates have to complete the choice filling online by selecting the name of Government Medical College, Akola, as their preference.

  • Candidates must be 17 years of age on or before 31 December 2026.
  • Candidates must qualify the NEET-UG 2026 with the required percentile (General: 50th, SC/ST/OBC: 40th and General-PwD: 45th).
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with aggregate 50% marks in PCB for general category and 40% for reserved categories.
  • Candidates can be Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian origin (PIO). There are separate guidelines for foreign nationals.For state quota seats, Maharashtra domicile is compulsory.
