Why Was NEET UG 2026 Cancelled?
The NEET UG 2026 exam was held on May 3, 2026. It covered 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad across more than 5,400 exam centres.
Shortly after the exam, paper leak reports came in from Rajasthan. The CBI investigation confirmed what happened:
- The question paper was handwritten by an accused, then scanned and converted into PDF files
- These PDFs were sold to students at coaching centres in Sikar, Rajasthan for Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per student
- The leaked guess paper had over 400 questions
- More than 120 of those questions matched the Biology and Chemistry sections of the actual exam
NTA officially cancelled the exam on May 12, 2026. The CBI NEET 2026 investigation registered an FIR covering criminal conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust, and offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Five people were arrested - from Nashik, Jaipur, and Gurugram.
