NTA declares NEET UG 2026 result

On July 16, 2026, results of NEET UG 2026 exam were announced. Out of close to 20 lakh candidates who appeared, 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programs. The result came out on time, so the counselling and medical college admission calendar stays on track. Candidates can check their scorecard at neet.nta.nic.in.

NEET UG 2026 Toppers

Two candidates share the top spot this year. Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana both scored 715 out of 720 marks. Seventeen state toppers crossed the 700-mark threshold, and 26 scored above 690.

The 138 candidates who scored above 690 marks came from 66 cities. Most of them, 93 percent, sat for NEET for first time.

Women Candidates Lead the Way

Women make up more than 58 percent of entirely qualified candidates this year. They also passed at a higher rate than men. Among women who appeared, 56.8 percent qualified, if we compare to 55.1 percent of men.

State-Wise Highlights

  • All 36 states and union territories have qualified candidates.
  • Uttar Pradesh leads with over 1.7 lakh qualifiers, the highest in the country.
  • Lakshadweep recorded the fewest, at 43 qualified candidates.
  • The Top 17 rankers with marks of more than 705 were from eight States namely Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Exam Languages

NTA has conducted NEET UG 2026 in 13 languages namely Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

What Happens Next: NEET Counselling 2026

After you have your scorecard the next step is counselling and it is beneficial to know who does what.

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) runs counselling for the All-India Quota seats in MBBS and BDS.
  • Your home state's counselling body handles state quota seats.
  • NTA's job ends at the result and rank. It plays no role in merit lists, category lists, domicile checks, or seat allotment. Those decisions rest with the admitting authorities and state bodies.
