neet-ug-2026-cut-off-maharashtra-government-medical-colleges

NTA conducted NEET UG 2026 on May 3. Results are expected by May 20, 2026. If you are a Maharashtra student waiting to plan your counselling, this page gives you the most reliable data available right now. The cut offs below are predictions based on previous year Maharashtra state quota counselling closing marks published by the State CET Cell and DMER. The official NEET UG 2026 Maharashtra cut off will release after counselling ends in July-August 2026. Use this data to shortlist your colleges and make a decision.

Maharashtra State Quota: Key Facts

Before you look at cut offs, understand how the system works.

  • 85% of MBBS seats in all Maharashtra government colleges are filled through state quota. The remaining 15% go through AIQ counselling run by MCC.
  • Maharashtra is a closed state. Only candidates with valid Maharashtra domicile can apply for state quota seats. Non-domicile candidates are not eligible.
  • Counselling is conducted by the State CET Cell at cetcell.mahacet.org.
  • The category of reservations are listed as GEN, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, SEBC, NT, VJ/DT, DEF respectively.
  • The annual fee for MBBS admission at Maharashtra government medical colleges will be about Rs. 78,000 (tuition) + Rs. 5,000 (development fee).

Expected Cut Off Trend in 2026 vs Previous Years

The NEET 2026 paper was easier than 2025. Most experts from MOKSH Overseas Educon agree on this. Because the paper was easier, more students will score higher. That pushes the cut off up.

In 2025, the paper was difficult. Closing marks fell sharply across all categories. In 2023 and 2024, cut offs had gone up by 50 to 80 marks. In 2026, expect a moderate increase over 2025 levels.

Year Paper Difficulty Cut Off Direction vs Prior Year
2023-24 Moderate Increased by 50-80 marks
2024-25 Difficult Decreased significantly
2025-26 (expected) Easier than 2025 Expected to increase moderately

Bottom line: If you are comparing your score to last year's closing marks, add a small buffer. Do not assume 2025 cut offs will hold in 2026.

Expected Category-Wise Cut Off for Maharashtra Govt Medical Colleges (2026)

This table gives you an aggregate range across all 42 government colleges. The upper end reflects top colleges like Seth GS Mumbai and LTMC Sion. The lower end reflects less competitive colleges like GMC Gadchiroli and GMC Alibag.

Category Expected Cut Off Range (Marks) Approx. Gap vs General
General (Open) 550 - 630 -
EWS 530 - 600 20-30 marks lower
OBC 390 - 600 10-50 marks lower
SC 220 - 550 80-100 marks lower
ST 380 - 500 100-120 marks lower
SEBC 240 - 610 Similar to OBC
NT 250 - 610 Varies by college
VJ/DT 520 - 600 Varies by college
DEF 500 - 590 Varies by college

The wide range in SC, ST, NT, and SEBC categories exists because some colleges have very few reserved seats. In those cases, a single candidate can set an unusually low or high closing mark. Do not rely only on outlier data points.

How to Use Cut Off Data to Check Your Admission Chances

Once results are out, follow these four steps.

  • Get your All India Rank from the NTA result (expected by May 20, 2026). This is your starting point.
  • Check your MH State Rank and MH Category Rank once the Maharashtra state merit list is released by the State CET Cell. Your MH Category Rank is the most useful number. It compares you only against candidates in your reservation category from Maharashtra - a much smaller pool.
  • Compare your MH Category Rank against the previous year's category closing rank for each college you are targeting. If your rank is comfortably lower than the previous year's closing rank, you have a strong chance.
  • Register at cetcell.mahacet.org once Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 counselling opens in July 2026. Fill choices from most preferred to last acceptable. Do not skip Round 2, Mop-Up, or Stray Vacancy rounds.
