NEET Score vs. NEET Qualifying - The Distinction Nobody Explains Clearly

NEET qualifying means you crossed the minimum percentile set by the NTA each year. This status alone makes you eligible to study medicine abroad. It has nothing to do with your rank.
NEET score or cutoff, on the other hand, is the rank-based number used only inside India. Government colleges and state counselling boards use it to allot seats through competition. A general-category student might need 550 marks for a government seat in India. That same student needs only a qualifying pass for admission to a Philippine medical university.
Philippine universities do not run a rank-based counselling system like India does. They accept students directly, on a rolling basis, against a qualifying NEET certificate. Your rank, your percentile, your category cutoff - none of it enters their admission decision.

NMC 54-Month Rule - How to Verify a College Is Compliant
This rule decides whether your degree will even count once you return to India, so treat it as more important than any fee brochure.
Under the FMGL Regulations 2021, your MD program must run for at least 54 months, plus a 12-month internship at the same institution. Older Philippine programs ran for only 48 months. Most universities have since restructured their courses to meet this new requirement, but not all of them have finished the transition.

After Graduation - FMGE/NExT Reality Check
Passing NEET gets you through the door. It does not guarantee your license to practice in India.
After finishing your MD degree and internship in the Philippines, you must clear the FMGE, now being replaced by the NExT exam, to register as a doctor in India. Pass rates for this exam have hovered around 20 to 25 percent in recent years. Your NEET qualifying score has no bearing on this exam. It tests the knowledge and clinical skills you built during your MD years. Students worry heavily about NEET scores before admission, but the real gatekeeper standing between you and practicing medicine in India comes later, in the form of this licensing exam.
