Xiamen Medical University, also known as XMU was the first university which was founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah Kee (most renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader).

For its world-class standing, XMU in China has been listed in the national “211 Project”, “985 Project” and “Double First-class” initiative (launched by the Chinese government to support selected universities).

The university stretches over 1.4 million sq. meters and the library system contains 4.48 million printed and electronic volumes.

The university is directly administered by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is nationally rated for subjects including journalism, chemistry and economics. Many immigrants and foreign diplomats visit the university, partly, due to the high reputation and prevalence of foreign professors.

More than 40,000 full-time students are studying on campus out of which approximately 2,800 are foreign students.

Chinese is taught in some programs as a foreign language. The university coordinates with 270 higher education institutions both in China as well as abroad.

In the 27 schools of the universities, there are 76 departments and 10 research institutions. In total, 83 different undergraduate programs, 276 master's programs and 187 PhD programs are on offer.

The main campus is in the Siming District of Xiamen at the foothills of the mountains on Xiamen's Bay. Due to the landscape, and parks, the campus is a key tourist attraction in the area.

Aside from the main campus, the university also has campuses in Xiangtan and Zhengzhou. As of 2015, Xiamen Medical University has a campus in Malaysia, the first Chinese university to set up a campus overseas.

ADMISSIONS AT XIAMEN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN CHINA

The applicants who wish to apply in the XMU China must be non-Chinese citizens and should be aged in between 18-30 years. The applicants must hold a valid regular passport and must be of good health.

If there is any student who was a resident of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao and China and have migrated to any of the foreign country and wish to enroll to study in China as an international student, then he/she must have a valid passport for at least 4 years and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years.

The deadline for submitting applications is usually February to July, after which applications are not considered.

After this, you will need the original and notarized certificate of your high school diploma either in English or in Chinese Language.

In addition, the student must submit the originally notarized document (English or Chinese) for all the transcripts of the subjects and courses of high school.

The students who go for Clinical medicine in English are supposed to submit two separate recommendation letters (either in the Chinese language or English which should be recommended by the high school and must be approved by the head of the class. It should also contain the referrer's telephone number and Email ID).

Apart from this, the applicant is also required to submit a copy of passport and recent photograph (should be on a white background with size 35mm X 45 mm).

In order to prove the originally notarized documents, highest academic credentials are to be presented. In case if the applicant is a student at school, then a certificate of attending the school is to be submitted. Once the formalities for the admission are fulfilled, the official/original certificate is to be submitted. If the notarized documents of Chinese or English are translated versions, then the original language certificates and documents must be duly attached to it.

There is a requirement of letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors which should be written in either Chinese or English Language with the signature of the referee, Email ID and contact number.

If there are any published academic results or academic papers then they should also be presented.
