About College
One of the Government medical colleges of Bihar is Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), which has recently been renamed Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences. It is located in Pawapuri, Nalanda district. The main aim of this institution is to serve the community through the production of competent health professionals who meet national and international standards of excellence in health care.
In 2011, the institute came into existence with the support of the Bihar State Government. The institution is UGC recognized and has its affiliation to Bihar University of Health Sciences (previously, the institution was affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowledge University). Besides, the institution is recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) for imparting medical education and training. The college has earned fame for being one of the premier medical colleges of Bihar, with committed doctors and a large network of health facilities providing community health services in the area.
Currently, the college runs MBBS course offering 100 seats and also offers postgraduate (MD) courses in some of the departments like Anatomy, Physiology, and General Medicine. Admission Process 2026, VIMS Nalanda
To get admission in the MBBS program, a student needs to qualify NEET UG exam.
