Sichuan University (SCU) is among the top Universities in whole of China. The erstwhile West China University of Medical Sciences (WCUMS) became the Medical arm of SCU in 2000, however the West China University of Medical Sciences originally came into existence in 1910. So, the medical students at SCU get advantage of the more than a century long experience of the Institution. West China Hospital, which is a part of this West China University of Medical Sciences, has consistently been in the 3rd position in China. WCUMS gives out bachelor, masters & doctorate level qualifications and has more than 3k students enrolled at any given time. In 2012, WCUMS was designated as ‘Evidence Based Medical Center’ and there are 15 such centers all over the world.

About Campus life
The presence of a strong and active students’ union at Sichuan University promises for a student-centric approach. Whether academic, recreational or general, the students are given enough say to deal with it. This makes campus life here not only comfortable but also interesting. To quote the official website of Sichuan University ‘the Union works actively enriching the campus life, safeguarding students’ rights, and interests and guiding students’ ideas’. In fact, there are 12 separate departments in the Union of which one is the Interests Department that takes care of the extra-curricular activities and events. So, there are a lot of things to look forward to on your way to China when you intend to join Sichuan University.

Hostel and facilities
The accommodation at Sichuan University consists of dormitories for students. Inside a typical dorm, there is a common space and doors leading to individual rooms. In the common space, there is a table and few chairs along with another door which leads to the bathroom. One gets the facility of shower, bath tub, etc. in the bathroom. Moving forward to the individual room, you get the typical Chinese appearance of a dorm room that has everything from beds, mattresses and pillows to Air conditioners and wardrobe meant to store your belongings. There are several such dorms present on each floor of a block. There is also a lounge area one can observe on each floor. 

               Kitchen facilities are located on each floor for those preferring to cook their own food. Likewise, there is hot water facility too on each floor. What's more to find out is the reading room located in each of the blocks which is open 24X7 so students can study peacefully. Exiting the building, a parking lot is visible where students can park their motorcycles and bicycles. In order to ensure safety of students as well as their belongings, the dormitory is guarded by security watchmen right at the entrance of the dormitory building present 24X7. The University has its own canteen as well as grocery shop which makes it convenient for students to buy essentials.
