About University
KSMA is an 80 yrs old University of the State of Kyrgyzstan located in the city of Bishkek and created with the contribution of Russian Universities. KSMA was dependent on these Universities for Medical literature and teaching staff because the area was a war-plagued zone (the official website sys "...the hardships of wartime hampered the work..."). KSMA faced problems back then and it has a different set of challenges at this point in time. The international curriculum is quite new i.e. in 2000, it was introduced that brings some of these challenges into perspective. Today, a very few departments are fully functional and the Academy has limited PG options too.

Campus Life
About Campus life
KSMA provides an average life to its students. Though the infrastructure is challenged, there are no health or security hazards, apart from minor law & order lapses due to chronic political instability. The infrastructure is fairly challenged both in terms of academic facilities as well as living conditions. The University campus organizes a few cultural programs for the students, including the international ones. But since most of the international students are from Russia, programs are more Russia-oriented like the famous 'Russian language evening'.
Hostel & Facilities
Hostel and facilities
The small campus at KSMA had one hostel till recently. Now, a second Hostel has been constructed in anticipation that the number of students will rise. However, the current students living in the KSMA campus opine that the the old hostel was not good but manageable. Apart from being inconveniently far from the University, the new hostel has a lot of scope for improvement in infrastructure. About living in Bishkek or Kyrgyzstan as such, you need to be aware that due to the political instability and poor economic structure, one has to be careful as the crime rate is high.
