JIS School of Medical Science & Research (JISMSR), is a recently established (2023) private medical college in Domjur (near the Santragachi railway station) in the Howrah district of West Bengal. It operates under the JIS Group, is a unit of the JIS University affiliated with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

The institution is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and offers the best MBBS program in Kolkata, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It has a primary teaching hospital which is the Howrah District Hospital that gives clinical training to the students.

Admission Process 2026, JISMSR Howrah

MBBS admission is entirely based on NEET-UG 2026 performance.

  1. Candidates must qualify NEET-UG 2026 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
  2. After the results are out, candidates must register for counselling:
    • State quota seats are filled through West Bengal Medical Counselling (WBMCC).
    • Other seats are allotted through relevant central or management counselling processes.

The counselling has multiple rounds and candidates have to fill their choices by selecting JISMSR as their preferred college.

Once a seat is allotted at JISMSR, candidates have to pay the admission fee, download the allotment letter and report in-person to the college with the original documents for verification, medical check-up and payment of fees, to confirm their admission.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for MBBS at JISMSR, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age has to be 17 years as on 31 December 2026
  • Must have completed Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with minimum aggregate marks 50% in PCB for general category (40% - 45% for reserved categories)
  • Must qualify NEET-UG 2026 with the requisite percentile set by NMC- this is mandatory
