About College

The Jhargram Government Medical College & Hospital (JGMC) is a state-run medical school and hospital located in the town of Jhargram, West Bengal. The school opened in 2021 as part of an initiative to provide greater access to medical education through the establishment of district hospital based medical colleges; MBBS students began to enroll for the first time in 2022.

JGMC is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the National Medical Commission; therefore, the MBBS degree conferred by JGMC is valid in all states in India.

JGMC offers students a well-rounded education by housing all of the buildings that make up the institution educationally supporting classrooms, dormitories, and the teaching hospital within a single compound.

Because JGMC's mission is to serve the rural population within its catchment area, the institution is quickly becoming one of the most important state-run medical schools in the southwestern region of the state of West Bengal.

Admission Process 2026, JGMCH Jhargram

The Jhargram Government Medical College & Hospital 2026 MBBS Entry Requirements are as follows :

  • Entrance via 2026 NEET-UG Exam.
  • Applicant to complete the NEET UG exam with the required percentile of their respective category.
  • Complete all documentation during West Bengal centralized counseling for allocation of MBBS seats.
  • Complete online applications, submit documents and expressions of interest selecting preferred MBBS colleges.
  • Requests for the allocation of MBBS seats are based on NEET-UG examination scores, reserved seat eligibility at time of application, eligibility by state of domicile at time of admission, the number of available seats, and submitted WB MBBS application status.
  • Once allocated, applicants must attend JGMC and submit required documents and pay fees to secure admission.
  • Following allocation of admitted students, JGMC will continue to render MBBS seats based on the number of seats available for allocation and NEET-UG exam score in additional rounds of counseling.

Eligibility Criteria

JGMC MBBS Application Eligibility for 2026

  • Completion and passing of 12th Class Science subjects.  Physics, Chemistry, and Biology plus, English.
  • Minimum of fifty percent (50%) for general category candidates of combined Physics, Chemistry and Biology aggregate score from 12th Class Science or, Forty percent (40%) when applying for Reserved-Category candidates.
  • You must successfully complete the NEET-UG exam by achieving at least the minimum percentage of qualifying scores.
  • You must be at least 17 years of age as of December 31, 2026.
  • If you are a participant in the State Quota, you must be a resident of West Bengal.
  • Additionally, if you participate in the All India Quota, you must additionally be in accordance with National MBBS Entry Recruitment Policies.

Infrastructure

The Jhargram government medical college and hospital complex includes the main teaching facility, separate living quarters for students, and a hospital to provide students with an integrated, complete educational experience. The college has all classrooms equipped with modern teaching aids including projectors and audio-visuals.

The pre-clinical and clinical labs in the various or related specialties have all laboratory equipment needed for students to complete their clinical training. In addition, the library provides students with access to quiet places to study such as books and journals and provides them with the ability to study digitally.

The teaching hospital is attached to the college and is a full-service multi-specialty hospital with inpatient beds, surgery theatre, emergency department, and intensive care unit; therefore, students have great exposure to patients while they are enrolled at the school.

Hostel & Student Accommodation

Separate male and female dormitory rooms are provided in each hostel building. The shared rooms typically include a bed, desk, and storage of some kind.

Most hostels provide access to the Internet; in addition, students are provided with a hygienic mess that provides them with cooked food daily. All hostels have protective measures in place to ensure their safety. Each hostel has a security system as well as a live-in warden who ensures the safety of the students staying in the hostel.
