Established in 2019; the First MBBS selection was made in the same year under the Uttar Pradesh State Government. The College is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow and is approved by the National Medical Council.

Government Medical College-Shahjahanpur is attached with “Pt. Ram Prasad Bismil District Hospital” with approximately 400-500 beds and gives students an opportunity to receive clinical training within the hospital's facilities. The College currently has 100 MBBS admissions each year; being a relatively new government medical college, the College emphasises on building good quality clinical skills as well as promoting community based healthcare delivery systems.

With the financial support of government funds and a great deal of expansion of facilities, the College has secured a position as a strong choice for students wanting an affordable, government-funded education for MBBS in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
