Admission Process 2026, GMCH Purnea

Government Medical College - Purnea (GMCH Purnea) will only accept admissions to its MBBS programme based upon NEET UG marks earned in the National Examination conducted by NTA. The admissions process consists of the following steps:

  1. Qualify for NEET-UG (National Entrance Test for Undergraduates).
  2. Register for the Bihar State Science Counselling through BCECEB (Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board).
  3. Fill in your choice of universities including GMCH-Purnea.
  4. Seats are allocated according to your rank, category and preference.
  5. Obtain a seat allocation letter from the BCECEB.
  6. Pay the required fees and then report to GMCH-Purnea.
  7. Examine your identity and physical fitness.

The counselling process consists of multiple rounds (or mop-up rounds). Once you have reported to GMCH - Purnea and provided documents verifying your identity then you will be considered accepted into the university.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for application, the applicant must have met the following:

  1. Must be at least 17 years by 31 December 2026
  2. Must have qualified for the NEET UG with the following minimum percentile:
    • General/EWS: 50th percentile
    • SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile
  3. Academic qualification: Higher Secondary or equivalent examination (10+2) with subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology with minimum marks as follows:
    • 50% for general
    • 40% for reserved

Candidates applying must be Indian citizens, NRIs, or OCI/PIO Candidates. Bihar domicile candidates will be given preference for the 85% quota for state admission.
