Admission Process 2026

Admission to Barasat Government Medical College is obtained by following these four steps:

1. You must sit the NEET UG exam, which is administered by NTA.
2. After taking the test, you can participate in the counselling process; you will have two ways to do this:
   • The all-India quota (15%) via the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC)
   • The state quota (85%) via the counselling authority of the West Bengal State
3. To ensure you have a seat, you must fill out and lock-in your choice during counselling rounds.
4. Once you are given a seat, you must report to the college with the appropriate documents and payment to confirm your admission.

Additionally, if the seat allotment has not filled all available seats, you will have the opportunity to participate in stray vacancy rounds.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Minimum age of 17 years of age by 31 Dec 2026
2. Qualified for NEET UG with the following minimum percentile
   • 50% for general candidates
   • 40% for SC/ST/OBC
3. Passed the 10+2 grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, plus English with the following minimum marks:
   • 50% for general candidates
   • 40% for SC/ST/OBC

You may apply if you are either an Indian citizen, NRI or OCI. Generally speaking state quota is favoured for candidates domiciled in West Bengal.
