The university was established in the year 1935. However in the year 2003 is was recognized as a university. At present, the university works under the guidelines of the Russian academy of medical science.
Moreover, the university is participating in numerous international projects for promoting medical research and clinical practice. The Volgograd state medical university has established friendship with a lot of medical institutes to foster and advance medical science in the fields of poison control, family planning, reproductive health, arterial hypertension, epidemiology, tuberculosis diagnosis and pharmacology.
Volgograd state medical university is situated on the banks of Volga River (the greatest river of Russia). While football fever has consumed major population of Russia, you can still experience the roots of incredible customs and cultures in Volga.

Campus Life
About Campus life
The university is authorized by the Russian ministry for education for educating both Russian as well as foreign students. Since 1962, the university is training its students. It began to teach English since 2000.
As the university is listed in the Directory of higher medical schools, the graduated students can work in any of the countries (once they pass the national examination of that particular country).
There are 6 faculties in the university. They are:
• Faculty of general medicine
• Faculty of dentistry
• Faculty of pediatrics
• Faculty of pharmacy
• Faculty of medical biochemistry
• Faculty of social work and clinical psychology
Furthermore, the Volgograd state medical university has dedicated department for physical training which includes sports ground, indoor mini stadium and a gym. For the initial 2 years, it’s compulsory for all the students to actively participate in physical training. However, you can opt for training in different sports, of your choice.

There are separate hostels for girls and boys and all special measures are taken to ensure safety and security in the campus. Furthermore, the basic amenities of these hostels include: a gymnasium, a sports complex, free Wi-Fi, and Indian mess. Thus, to be precise, the students at Volgograd State Medical University hostels feel like home.
