Clinical Electives That Do Not Require The USMLE Step 1 Scores
There are many IMGs (International Medical Graduates) out there who haven’t appeared for the USMLE Step 1 yet. And so, they won’t be able to reap the benefits of choosing the programs for the Elective clerkships. And probably, you are one of them and that’s why you are here!
As of recent times, the USMLE Step 1 scores have become a barrier in order to gain eligibility to apply for medical electives in USA . And let alone the Step 1 scores, majority of the Universities are now accepting the applications by way of VSLO (Visiting Student Learning opportunities) only. Although it is a great initiative to make the functioning of the system smoother, what hinders the process is that in order to apply by means of VSLO, your medical school should be on partnership terms with it. So, at last, it does make sound that you just can’t easily apply for electives now.
However, even if you haven’t obtained your USMLE Step 1 scores, there are a few institutions which will help you in getting into the medical electives in USA . Here are some institutions that accept applications from students who haven’t yet got their Step 1 scores.

For CLINICAL ELECTIVES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE THE USMLE STEP 1 SCORES, It would be further recommended to initiate your application process at least 8-9 prior to your date of medical electives in USA given the numerous documents needed to run the process accompanied with the processing time of your college office.
