Admission requirements:

Students after completing 12th standard are supposed to accomplish a one year preparatory course at “Studienkolleg”. As far as requirements of the preparatory course are concerned, you are supposed to get Zertifikat Deutsch (a Duetsch certificate) in most of the cases.

Once you are done with the preparatory course, you are asked to appear for an examination “Aufnamheprufung”. The final results of the preparatory course, comes after the assessment of this examination test.

“Studienkolleg” ask students for the A-level certification. If you already have accomplished it, it means that you must have passed the literature as well as English subject examination as per the assessing body. One thing you must note that the general paper is not considered to be the component of language.

In case if you wish to study in German medium then you are supposed to pass B1 level exam in Nepal followed by German language training which lasts for 4-6 months. After this you are given a certificate of C1 level/TestDaF/DSH-2.

In order to study for the Bachelor degree in engineering in Germany, you are required to pass the English, literature as well as other mandatory subjects. Once these requirements are fulfilled, the student can study engineering in Germany, however the subjects that are taught in English are really few.

The basic requirements for your admission into a foundation course are:

  • Excellent Marks in School Leaving Certificate (minimum 75%)
  • Excellent Marks in 10+2 or equivalent (minimum 65%)
  • German Language Proficiency documented and certified by Goethe Zertifikat B1.

Tuition Fee

The cost of studying engineering in Germany is comparatively low if we take that of other European nations. But you may find it expensive in terms of housing and accommodation.

Yes you heard it right! The tuition cost of studying engineering in Germany is relatively cheaper and sometimes there is no tuition fee at all. Most of the universities do not charge for semester fee at all but still there are some left which may ask you to pay for the semester union fee.

At present the fee is up to 500 euros for every semester, if we take a look at some of the German universities. The tuition fee charged by the private universities, are high enough, if we compare it with that of govt. ones.

Process of admission

  1. You are asked to learn the German language up to the B1 level and pass it.
  2. Once you have passed it, submit the certificate of B1 level examination along with all of your academic documents to the university.
  3. In case if you have a blocked account, you can apply for it, once your admission letter arrives.
  4. Once the ministry of Nepal allots you the no objection certificate, you can transfer the living cost of your first year to blocked account.
  5. The next step is to apply for the visa application as it takes around 6-8 weeks.
  6. Once you are done with the application, then apply for visa and again wait for 6-8 weeks.
  7. After you receive your visa, you can take off for Germany!

Total duration of German language course

  • For the Indian students, you can seek an advantage i.e. a “6 month German language course” is available in Nepal which will be considered for your 1 year foundation course in Germany.
  • Once you complete they German language course, you can begin with your 1 year preparatory/foundation course in Germany.
  • After the accomplishment of the 1 year foundation course you can begin with your 4 years bachelor degree program in Engineering in Germany.

After studies:

Later, when you complete your bachelors in engineering, you are free to work as engineers in Germany.
