About University

The University of Gibraltar, established in 2015, is a public, not-for-profit institution of higher education located in Gibraltar, a British Overseas Territory on the southern coast of Spain. The University aims to create an institution of excellence in teaching, learning, and research. The University received its degree-awarding powers in 2017, making it the first and only institution in Gibraltar. 

The University of Gibraltar (UniGib) has six research centers as- Natural Sciences and Environment, Business and Management, History and Culture, Education, Gaming, and Health and Sport Sciences. The University of Gibraltar is committed to providing high-quality education and promoting research and innovation.

One of the main features of the University of Gibraltar is its small size, which allows a high level of individualized attention for students. Besides this, the University aims to create a strong focus on sustainability and has implemented several initiatives to facilitate its environmental impact. 

In addition to its academic programs, the University of Gibraltar is involved in many community outreaches and engagement activities, including partnerships with local businesses and organizations. The University has received approval for all the program offerings. 

The University of Gibraltar comprises 700+ International students with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in different fields of study. The University of Gibraltar has approximately 60 full-time and part-time faculty members. Above all, UniGib gives several state-of-the-art facilities like modern classrooms and labs, a library, and a student center.

The University of Gibraltar Hostels/ rooms comprise services such as bedding, wardrobe, drawers/shelves, desk, chairs, shower room, kitchen, microwave, small refrigerator, and internet facility. Also, laundry facilities at each block are available. For staying in the University of Gibraltar Campus, the room rent would be £650 per month, whereas if you wish to stay for a week or a short stay, £150 per week would be the charge.


The University of Gibraltar offers many scholarships to national and International students. Direct scholarships, for instance, include Parasol Scholarships for prospective Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA), Gibraltar Commonwealth Scholarships, Europa Scholarships and Bursaries, and HM Government of Gibraltar Scholarships for residents. Thus, students can obtain the Scholarship under the ERASMUS system. 

The University of Gibraltar encourages students to study, work and join research programs abroad under the ERASMUS Program. After studying at the University of Gibraltar as an International student, you are eligible to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP). After graduating, students are allowed to stay in Gibraltar for two more years, which enables students to look for full-time employment in local businesses or get a job.
